If you bought SOL at $140 like me, you are still in loss. But if you bought at $72 last month, you are up 43.5% today. So what actually changed?
SOL reclaimed $100 on Aug 25 for the first time in 6 months after being stuck at $83-$88. It’s not just a random pump. It’s a multi-factor rally.
1. The Fastest Solana Has Ever Been
On Aug 19-21, Solana activated its first-ever reduction in target slot time via SIMD-0525 upgrade. Slot time went down to 350ms. That means block production is faster than ever before.
And bigger is coming - Alpenglow. This is the biggest change to Solana's consensus since launch, replacing Proof of History and Tower BFT. Target is 100-150ms transaction finality and much better stability.
2. Institutional Money is Finally Coming In
Spot SOL ETFs saw $28.34M inflows over 4 days - strongest since mid-May.
On Aug 24 alone, $33.49M net inflow with $166.83M daily volume. Total cumulative inflows are now near $1.22B.
Visa, PayPal, Circle, Stripe are already using Solana for stablecoin settlements. Even Moody's integrated its credit ratings for tokenized bonds on Solana.
3. The Supply Game: Governance Vote
Right now validators are voting on proposals to reduce new SOL issuance and increase the amount of SOL burned from fees. If passed, less new SOL will come to market and more will be burnt. Classic supply squeeze.
4. Network Usage at All-Time High
In June 2026, Solana recorded a record 3.77 BILLION non-vote transactions. On-chain activity, DeFi, memecoins, and tokenized assets are all pushing volume near $7 Billion a day when SOL broke $100.
So why is my $140 buy still in loss?
Because SOL was at $210 a year ago and is still 50.6% down from last year. It hit ATH $294.33 in Jan 2025. So $140 is still 35% above current price, but the structure has changed.
I am not selling at $106. Waiting for $140 again. Patience.
This is not financial advice. DYOR.
