🚨 IRAN–OMAN HORMUZ AGREEMENT: A MAJOR DEVELOPMENT 🌊🇮🇷🇴🇲
Iran and Oman have reached progress toward a temporary maritime corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, aimed at facilitating commercial shipping while broader negotiations continue.
🇮🇷 Iran says the proposed corridor would begin in Iranian territorial waters, while part of the exit route would pass through Omani waters. The proposed route is reportedly about 7 miles (11.3 km) wide.
⚓ Iran has also indicated that military vessels would not be permitted under the proposed arrangement, while discussions continue over navigation, security, mine clearance and the future management of the waterway.
⚠️ Important: This does not yet mean that the Strait of Hormuz has been permanently reopened. Iran continues to link a full reopening to wider U.S.–Iran commitments, and Reuters reports that key details of the Iran–Oman accord are still being finalized.
🌍 The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy chokepoints, so any safe-navigation agreement could have major implications for global oil supplies, shipping costs and energy markets.
