was supposed to be asleep hours ago and instead ended up in the network updates and developer updates pages 🤔
they are changelogs. what shipped. what changed. version by version.
and honestly they are more informative than the announcement posts.
announcements tell you what a project wants you to know. changelogs tell you what the engineers were actually doing that month. those are different pictures and the second one is harder to dress up.
what I look for is whether the pace is steady. a project shipping small things continuously is in a different state to one that goes quiet for months then posts a big announcement.
I also cannot really evaluate the substance of most entries. I can see activity. I cannot tell you whether the work was good.
my caveat is that changelogs can also be padded. small commits presented as progress. so it is a signal rather than proof and I would not lean on it too hard.
do you check changelogs or only announcements
