I Lost Almost $9,000 Trading

Here’s What I Wish I Knew Before I Started
I want to be honest with my community:

I recently lost close to $9,000 trading. It stings to admit, but I’d rather turn this into something useful for others than just sit with the regret quietly.

If you’re trading or thinking about starting here’s what I learned the hard way, and what I’m doing differently now.
What Went Wrong (Be Honest With Yourself)
Most trading losses don’t come from “bad luck.” They come from a handful of repeated mistakes:
• No real plan. I was entering trades based on gut feeling or hype, not a defined strategy.
• No stop-loss discipline. I let losing trades run, hoping they’d “come back,” instead of cutting them early.
• Overtrading. Chasing every move in the market instead of waiting for high-quality setups.
• Revenge trading. After a loss, I’d jump right back in to “win it back” which usually made things worse.
• Position sizing too large. Risking too much of my account on single trades.
• Trading on emotion, not data. Fear and greed drove decisions more than analysis did.

Losing $9,000 was a hard lesson, but it taught me that trading isn’t about being right every time and it’s about managing risk so that being wrong doesn’t destroy you. If you’re going to trade, treat it like a business with rules, not a game of chance.
Stay disciplined, protect your capital, and don’t let one bad stretch turn into a bigger disaster than it needs to be.
