According to Yonhap, RTHK and Google Finance, Asian equities firmed at midday Wednesday as chipmakers rebounded ahead of Nvidia's earnings, with a drop in overnight oil prices and US Treasury yields lending support.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 was up about 0.6%, trading at 66,249.29, a gain of 392.86 points, as of 04:32 UTC. Advantest added 1.86% and Sony rose 1.85%, though chip-tool maker Tokyo Electron slipped 0.43%. Reuters reported Japan's corporate services inflation accelerated more than expected in July.

Seoul's KOSPI led regional gains, climbing 1.97% to 6,875.50, up 132.76 points as of 04:32 UTC, after a weak start. Samsung Electronics advanced 2.92% and SK Hynix gained 2.56% on the chip rebound.

Hong Kong stocks extended their advance, with the Hang Seng Index up 0.68% at 25,685.40, a rise of 174.30 points as of 04:32 UTC, and the Hang Seng Tech Index climbing about 1.6% by the midday break. Xiaomi jumped 4.32%, Meituan rose 2.20%, Alibaba added 1.49% and Tencent gained 1.00%; Innovent Biologics rose about 8% to a record.

Taiwan's TAIEX surged 1.44% to 45,822.08, up 652.62 points as of 04:32 UTC, led by CPO and PCB names. Largan Precision hit its daily limit at NT$6,290, a record high, while MediaTek advanced about 5% and TSMC edged up 0.83% to NT$2,420.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.7% to 3,916 at the midday break, the Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.2% to 13,911 and the ChiNext Index climbed 1.37% to 3,444, with financial, non-ferrous metal and paper stocks leading.
