The more I look at DUSK, the less I think its hardest problem is privacy.
It’s UX.
Not the flashy kind.
The little moments where a developer stops and thinks, “wait… how does this work here?”
Dusk gives you an EVM route, so you can come in with the usual tools and habits.
Then there’s the Dusk-native side: Rust, WASM, its own execution model, its own way of handling data and confidential contracts.
That’s useful.
But it also means there’s a mental shift.
And developers feel those shifts immediately.
The same thing happens on the user side.
On a normal chain, you send something and look at the explorer.
Done.
With DUSK, you start dealing with public and shielded activity, different visibility rules, and information that may intentionally not appear to everyone.
That’s where it gets interesting.
Because the product now has to explain something crypto usually avoids explaining:
what exactly happened,
and who is allowed to know about it.
That’s a much harder UX problem than showing a transaction hash.
And honestly, this is why I pay more attention to the boring Dusk tooling than the big privacy claims.
Wallet integration.
Contract schemas.
Developer environments.
Explorers.
The stuff nobody posts screenshots of.
That’s where a chain becomes usable.
There’s another detail I think people miss.
Financial privacy isn’t really about making everything invisible.
Sometimes the user needs to prove something without exposing everything behind that proof.
That changes how the interface has to behave.
A good Dusk app shouldn’t make users think about Phoenix, Moonlight, proofs, view keys or WASM every five minutes.
They should just feel like the app understands what needs to be private.
That’s the real UX test.
The strongest privacy technology might eventually be the part nobody notices.
Not because it disappeared.
Because it finally became normal.
