I spent weeks researching privacy blockchain architecture trying to find solutions that don't contradict themselves.

Most competing solutions focus on the wrong layer, implement post-intent broadcast encryption, or add confidentiality as an after-thought. Every time I had followed the logic, I found that Transparency still prevails and Privacy is the afterthought that is used too late.

Dusk caught my attention because of this.

After spending a day and a half going through the details of the Plonk zero knowledge proof, something became clear to me. What I saw was not a privacy add on, but rather a zero knowledge execution environment. Every single transaction is, by default, a cryptographic proof of something, instead of an intent announcement.

The network validates the proof without knowing or learning what is contained in the proof. The compliance is done. The economy stays sealed to everyone except the parties I choose to authorize.

I had to read this several times to truly believe what I was seeing.
This isn't privacy, this is programmable confidentiality, with the ability to define disclosure on a case by case basis.

The Confidential Security Contracts framework separates privacy of execution from transparency of settlement. A position in this framework could be traded with full counterparty privacy with proof to the regulator that every regulatory obligation was satisfied.

The regulator would receive a cryptographic proof. The market would receive proof that the settlement was completed. Nobody would receive the underlying business terms.

This has never been accomplished before. This framework is the first to provide simultaneous compliance verification. This never existed in the financial system, not in any country. Trust me, most of the global regulatory system was developed after the fact because everyone believed that verification was a retrospective event.

I am looking at verification right now.
