According to Jin10, OpenAI completed a transaction that helped employees sell about $7 billion of company shares, preparing for a possible initial public offering on Wall Street in the future. Two people familiar with the matter said OpenAI did not seek outside investors to participate in the tender offer and instead repurchased shares directly from current and former employees. The transaction valued the AI startup at $852 billion, in line with its latest funding round, and OpenAI has previously invited investors including Thrive Capital and SoftBank Group to buy employee shares.
