Babylon deep-dive wrapped for today — $BABY , #Babylon, @BabylonLabs_io — and one stat is still stuck in my head. Fresh all-time low, $0.01020, hit on Aug 5, two days before I’m typing this. Checked the volume right after: $121M for the day, up 94% from the prior one. Real dump, real bounce, both inside 48 hours.
Here’s the part that actually sat with me though — TVL never flinched. Still $2.63B locked into the staking side. Market cap, meanwhile, sits around $48.5M. That ratio, 0.02, barely moved through the whole slide. Hold up— that means the BTC staking machine just… keeps going. Doesn’t check the price chart, doesn’t care that $BABY printed a new low. It runs on default while the token itself gets tossed around by people who, near as I can tell, mostly aren’t the ones actually staking.
I’ll admit I walked in assuming price is at least a rough proxy for protocol health, the usual shorthand. Not here, or not yet. Usage is the default setting, humming quietly underneath. Value capture is the part that still looks like it’s being negotiated, on its own separate clock.
Not sure that gap closes by itself. Curious which side moves first.
