The Pixels team didn't publish the full weighting logic of the smart distribution system. The sharecropper rates aren't set by a central authority. The craft efficiency of specific loops isn't announced. Guild strategy emerges from players experimenting in isolation and sharing selectively.
I thought this was accidental transparency management.
Now I think it might be architectural.
If every player knew every other player's optimal strategy, all strategies would converge. Converged strategies mean uniform behavior. Uniform behavior means the system gets no signal diversity. No signal diversity means the behavioral model can't distinguish healthy ecosystem activity from optimized performance theater.
The Pixels ecosystem functions partly because different players, with different levels of information, play differently. Some play casually. Some play optimally. Some play according to outdated guides. Some experiment. This variance is how value gradients form in the economy. It's how the marketplace maintains price tension. It's how the smart distribution model gets the signal heterogeneity it needs to function.
Fragmented knowledge isn't a side effect. It's the substrate.
Pixels has never said this. But the Realms Scripting Engine, planned to let third-party developers build on the platform, will produce exactly this: developers with deep knowledge of specific subsystems, casual players with surface knowledge, traders reading on-chain signals, analysts using Hivemind AI. All operating in the same economy with different information layers.
Whether that was designed or inherited, the outcome is a system that might genuinely require distributed ignorance to maintain the behavioral diversity it runs on.
That's a strange thing to build and never mention 😂.
