CLARITY Act
🇺🇸 September 15 is the key date. The Senate is scheduled for a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act. It needs 60 votes to advance. Republicans have 53 seats, so bipartisan support is required.
🟢 French Hill, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, says he believes there could be enough Senate votes and that the bill could potentially pass before the November midterms.
🟢 Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse is publicly urging lawmakers to finish the legislation, adding support from another major crypto industry figure.
🟢 The National Sheriffs’ Association has moved from opposition to a neutral position, reducing one source of resistance around the bill's AML provisions.
⚠️ But passage is not guaranteed. Disputes remain around stablecoin rewards, ethics provisions, DeFi and financial-crime safeguards.
📈 What this could mean for crypto
The September 15 vote is potentially a major volatility catalyst. If the bill advances, crypto could receive a positive regulatory-clarity narrative; if it fails to get 60 votes, the market could react negatively because expectations have built around the legislation. Bitcoin is currently around $79.6K, with U.S. CPI data on September 11 also likely to affect crypto before the vote.
For
$BTC ,
$ETH ,
$XRP , and major altcoins, I'd watch Sept. 11 CPI → Sept. 15 CLARITY vote → Sept. 16 Fed decision as the next major sequence.
