Yesterday, we looked at validators, the operators helping secure #Terra_Classic and participate in consensus.
But validators don't operate in isolation, like we hinted a little y'day.
This is where DELEGATORS come in.
A DELEGATOR is an LUNC holder who chooses to delegate their tokens to a validator instead of running a validator node themselves. That delegated stake contributes to the validator's overall staking weight.

Think of it simply this way:
WE/YOU, DELEGATE LUNC TO VALIDATOR FOR STAKING WEIGHT AND NETWORK SECURITY

So what happens to your LUNC is when you delegate:
Your LUNC becomes bonded/staked.
It contributes to the validator's stake.
You can receive staking rewards according to the network's rules.
Your LUNC remains yours, it isn't transferred into the validator's personal ownership.
But staking also comes with conditions.

If you decide to undelegate, your LUNC enters an unbonding period rather than becoming immediately liquid. Terra's staking documentation describes a 21-day unbonding period, during which the tokens cannot be freely traded and do not earn staking rewards.
There's also redelegation moving your stake from one validator to another without first completing the normal unbonding process.

And there's an important risk to understand here, champs:
VALIDATOR PERFORMANCE MATTERS.
Delegators share in the consequences of validator behavior. Validators can face penalties for certain forms of misbehavior, and delegated stake can be affected by slashing.

So staking isn't simply Locking LUNC to collect rewards, but it's participation in the network's security model.
