Starting from 2025-01-22 00:00 (UTC), there will be a Maximum Negative Balance applied to the Portfolio Margin Program. The Auto-Exchange process will be triggered to repay any negative balance when the negative balance of any margin asset exceeds the corresponding Maximum Negative Balance.
The system will calculate the negative balance of each asset every 10 minutes. Once the negative balance of any asset exceeds the Maximum Negative Balance, the Auto-Exchange process will be triggered.
The system will first cancel any open orders with margin locked corresponding to the negative balance asset and repay the negative balance such that it falls below 80% of the asset’s Maximum Negative Balance. Please note that the open order will only be canceled if the locked asset is a negative balance asset.
If the negative balance of the asset fails to fall below 80% of the asset’s Maximum Negative Balance after the repayment, the system will exchange other assets for repayment. The assets selected for exchange will be chosen at random.. This will continue until the negative balance of the asset falls below 80% of the asset’s Maximum Negative Balance.
From the Binance Web and App, please click “Portfolio Margin Orders” - “Others” for the Auto-Exchange record (Please note it will only be available for query until further notification on App).
From API, please query the auto-exchange record via GET /papi/v1/portfolio/negative-balance-exchange-record

Please note that the Maximum Negative Balance of each asset will only be available on this page when the product goes live on 2025-01-22 00:00 (UTC).
Users will be notified via email, in-app and App push notifications when the Auto-Exchange is triggered.
The user’s account will be marked as Reduce-Only during the Auto-Exchange process.
The Maximum Negative Balance only applies to the Portfolio Margin Program, not the Portfolio Margin Pro Program.
