On June 26, the power plant learned that Ideal Auto has officially released a new five-seat SUV, the all-new Ideal L8. The new car comes in two versions: the Ultra and the Livis. The Ultra version has a nationwide uniform retail price of 369.8 thousand yuan, while the Livis version has a nationwide uniform retail price of 429.8 thousand yuan.
The all-new Ideal L8 is a new model tailored by Ideal Auto for the five-seat SUV market. Built on proprietary technologies such as the Mach M100 chip and Mach intelligent assisted driving, it continues all the core technologies and configurations of the 9-series flagship, while emphasizing a sporty design, second-row space, and practical storage space—prioritizing both riding comfort and handling as well as driving feel.
Li Xiang, Chairman and CEO of Ideal Auto, said: “Over the past four years, Ideal Auto has developed 800V active suspension, full drive-by-wire chassis, the Mach M100 chip, and the 5C range-extending system. This year, all four of these self-developed technologies have been installed on board. The all-new Ideal L8 aims to achieve both a comfortable and luxurious ride, driving fun, and leading intelligence.”
To meet the needs of five-seat family users, the new Ideal L8’s exterior styling, in-cabin space, and underlying platform architecture have been redesigned. The vehicle dimensions have been upgraded to 5135 mm in length and a 3045 mm wheelbase. A short front overhang, long rear overhang, a high-riding hood, 285 mm wide tires, a fastback design, a more steeply raked sporty C-pillar, and a high-gloss black front lip with a rear diffuser design give the whole vehicle a more sporty visual presence.
The new Ideal L8 expands the second-row standard legroom to 970 mm; after a zero-gravity recline, it can be extended to 1300 mm. Headroom is 1023 mm, with a standard seat height of 360 mm, improving the problem of insufficient second-row space in five-seat SUVs. Ideal also adds a series of convenient, within-reach features to the new Ideal L8. The second-row door panels feature physical buttons such as “ventilation, heating, massage, one-touch zero gravity, and one-touch reset.” The headliner includes an electric door-closing button, so in a zero-gravity lounging position you can close the door without getting up. All four power doors feature capacitive anti-pinch protection. The center armrest integrates a 50W wireless charging pad and a 67W Type-C port, and comes standard with an electric sunshade, two larger table trays, and a color-adjustable vanity mirror with lighting.
The L8 Ultra cockpit is equipped with the latest generation Qualcomm 8797 Max chip. CPU performance is 1.8 times higher than the previous 8295 chip; GPU computing power increases by 2.6 times; and NPU computing power rises by 3.5 times. The new Ideal L8 Livis cockpit uses a Qualcomm 8797 Elite chip and includes a 21-inch 4K rear “magic movement” screen. Second-row users can simply raise a hand to summon the screen to their fingertips for touch operations.

All models are equipped with a 72.7 kWh 5C range-extending supercharging battery. CLTC pure-electric range is 430 km. With the Ideal 5C supercharging stations, it can be charged from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes. To date, Ideal has built more than 4,000 Ideal supercharging stations. The fast-charging network covers 31 provinces and 290 cities nationwide. The onboard self-developed 800V high-efficiency electric drive platform has a combined power of 420 kW from dual motors at the front and rear. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h, providing more than a 40 km improvement to pure-electric range. The self-developed and self-manufactured third-generation range extender delivers a combined range of 1670 km, and the fuel consumption at a drained battery state is as low as 6.2 liters per 100 km.
The new Ideal L8 Ultra is equipped with a steer-by-wire Magic Carpet undercarriage, including core technologies such as the third-generation dual-chamber dual-valve Magic Carpet air suspension, steer-by-wire steering, and rear-wheel steering. Among them, the third-generation dual-chamber dual-valve Magic Carpet air suspension uses a brand-new frequency-shaping dual-valve CDC: the damper’s compression and rebound damping are controlled independently, achieving a much faster response and significantly improved adjustment precision. The entire new Ideal L8 lineup comes standard with steer-by-wire steering and rear-wheel steering, with a turning radius of just 5.1 meters. The new Ideal L8 Livis features an 800V active suspension and a steer-by-wire chassis that includes steer-by-wire steering, rear-wheel steering, and steer-by-wire mechanical braking (EMB). Its configuration is aligned with the new Ideal L9.
The third-generation Fortress safety body uses 26 locations of 2000 MPa-class and above hot-formed steel in the vehicle body skeleton, along with 8 ultra-high-strength integrated die-cast parts. It is also equipped with integrated dual anti-collision beams and safety designs such as 15 energy-absorbing rings, comprehensively improving vehicle safety from both the material and body-structure levels. The 5C battery pack design features a five-layer bottom protection structure, including high-strength aluminum materials, crush-absorbing structural frames, buffering energy-absorbing layers, high-toughness liquid-cooled plates, and sufficient energy-absorbing space. The thermal safety system covers five dimensions: heat insulation, pressure relief, cooling, insulation, and early warning. The battery pack’s thermal runaway safety is verified through thermal runaway safety tests under high-temperature environments.
The new Ideal L8 Ultra is equipped with a self-developed Ideal Mach M100 chip. Single-chip computing power is 1280 TOPS. The perception system includes seven 8-megapixel intelligent driving cameras and four 3-megapixel surround-view cameras. Together with a self-developed image processing unit, its visual performance is significantly enhanced in scenarios such as tunnel lighting changes, high-speed water mist, and dense night fog. The new Ideal L8 Livis is equipped with two Mach M100 chips, with total computing power of 2560 TOPS—one chip focuses on the Mach intelligent assistance driving model, and the other runs the Mach Edge-side embodied intelligence large model. With the official delivery of the new Ideal L8, Mach Intelligent Assistance Driving version 9.0.2 will be pushed simultaneously, and the model inference frame rate will increase by 30%.
The new Ideal L8 Ultra’s nationwide uniform MSRP is 369,800 yuan. Based on the Ultra version, the new Ideal L8 Livis upgrades features including an 800V active suspension, steer-by-wire mechanical braking (EMB), dual Mach M100 chips, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship 8797 Elite chip. The nationwide uniform MSRP is 429,800 yuan.
In this press event, Ideal changed the usual process for new car launches. Starting from the Dragon Boat Festival, Ideal provided test drives of the new Ideal L8 at its dealerships. Nearly a week after the test drive events began, the new model was formally launched. Li Xiang claimed that “this was done to reduce the pressure on users to place blind pre-orders.”
In May this year, Ideal delivered 33,350 vehicles. The main reason is that the L series is entering its model refresh cycle, so deliveries are mainly for the fully electric i series. The new Ideal L9 was released in May this year. Within the first two weeks of sales, the top-spec Ideal L9 Livis received over 10,000 confirmed orders.
