According to The New York Times, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has directed an internal team to develop a standalone prediction markets app called Arena, separate from Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The product is reportedly modeled after Polymarket and Kalshi, initially using a points-based system rather than real-money wagering, though future monetized participation has not been ruled out. Meta is said to view prediction markets as an emerging user behavior trend and a potential growth opportunity. The company previously launched a prediction app called Forecast in 2020 before shutting it down in 2022.
