All of it needs storage that doesn’t vanish, can’t be censored, and doesn’t fall apart just because one company goes out of business.
That’s what Walrus is all about. It’s not trying to look cool. It just wants to work, no matter what. The focus here is on storing big piles of data, spread out across different places, while still making sure you can actually get to it and check that it’s real. That’s a bigger deal than most people think, especially now that more apps care about actual content, not just simple transactions.
What I really like is how Walrus doesn’t pretend storage is simple. They talk directly about reliability, how nodes behave, and what motivates people to keep things running. When you see them handling real stuff, like service migrations, and the protocol just keeps working, that’s proof people are actually using it. We’re way past theory here.
The $WAL token just fits naturally into everything. It’s not some decoration. People use it to pay for storage, reward the folks running the nodes, and for staking that keeps the network secure. So $WAL feels like it’s connected to what’s actually happening, not just there for speculation. If more people use Walrus, demand for the token makes sense. If they don’t, well, nothing’s going to magically prop it up.
To me, Walrus is one of those projects that probably won’t go viral every week, but could quietly become the backbone a lot of apps rely on. And honestly, those are usually the ones that end up really mattering.
