🤔 Tether Holds 150,000 $BTC ,How Did It Get Here ? Tether’s CEO says the company owns 150,000 $BTC ;about 50,000 more than its last reserve report implied. At the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano on Tuesday, Paolo Ardoino said Tether holds roughly 150,000 bitcoin of its own, worth about $11.5 billion. That’s around 0.7% of the 21 million cap, and if the number holds it would make Tether the second-largest disclosed corporate holder, behind only Strategy’s 848,517 BTC. So how did a stablecoin issuer get here? Slowly, and on purpose. Back in May 2023 Tether said it would put up to 15% of its net realized operating profit into bitcoin and hold the coins itself, with no third-party custodian. The 150,000 is about 50,000 above what Tether’s Q3 reserve report implies, which showed 100,060 $BTC . The company says its corporate bitcoin sits separately from the $USDT reserves, but Ardoino didn’t say where the extra coins are held or when they were bought, and no wallet addresses have been published for them, so for now the figure rests on his word. The same report showed $191.45 billion in assets against $183.50 billion in liabilities. Ardoino’s own verdict: “It’s not much, but it’s honest work.” The market will want receipts. #BTC Price Analysis# #Macro Insights# #Bitcoin Price Prediction: What is Bitcoins next move?#
