The FBI Cyber Branch

The FBI Cyber Branch has publicly confirmed that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) was responsible for the theft of more than $6 billion in virtual assets from Binance on or about October 29, 2026. The FBI refers to this activity as “TraderTraitor.”

The FBI, together with the USSS and IRS-CI, is actively tracking the stolen funds (primarily being converted into ETH and further laundered through DeFi and instant swap services) and has urged relevant blockchain service providers to block related addresses.

Binance

In parallel, Binance has begun restoring withdrawal functions after completing necessary security checks.

Withdrawals are now restored for:

Ethereum Network: USDC, USDT, ETH

BNB Smart Chain (BSC): USDC, USDT, BNB

Additional assets and networks will be restored in phases. Please always double-check the address, network, and your device security before withdrawing. Safety first.

We appreciate the community’s patience and support during this period. Binance remains fully committed to user security and will continue working closely with law enforcement and industry partners.

For most companies, a $6 BILLION loss would mean the end.

For Binance, it could be just another challenge to overcome.

That's the difference between building a company and building an empire.
