One distinction matters: 90% coverage is not the same as saying Binance recovered 90% of the stolen crypto from the attackers.
In its [Recovery Update #3](https://www.binance.com/en/support/announcement/detail/1fdf1f61559c401da0435895ffcccb62), published Oct. 31 at 14:24 on Binance’s page, the exchange says the amount of affected losses it has covered has risen from about 80% to 90%. Binance says BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD and ZEC are fully backed, while the remaining 10% consists of tokens outside that group and may take longer to source because they are less liquid.
Binance says the coverage combines a partial deployment of its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU), part of its Futures insurance fund and its corporate treasury. It says it will continue buying the remaining affected assets through market and over-the-counter channels. The new 90% figure is Binance-reported; independent coverage reviewed for this update did not separately confirm that milestone.
For context, [Reuters reported on Oct. 30](https://www.reuters.com/legal/transactional/binance-sets-aside-over-634-billion-cover-losses-attack-2026-10-30/) that Binance said it had set aside more than $6.34 billion, including $5 billion in affected tokens, and that about $3 billion had been frozen with industry partners. Those earlier figures do not independently verify today’s 90% update.
Binance also says it took a new Proof of Reserves snapshot at 00:00 UTC on Oct. 31. The exchange estimates the full zero-knowledge proof will take 40–50 hours to generate, so that full proof was not yet available in this update. Binance says withdrawal services remain targeted to resume on Sunday, Nov. 1, with details to be confirmed.
Why it matters: the update describes how the exchange says it will protect affected customers and restore asset coverage, but the new percentage remains a company statement, not an independently confirmed recovery total. A reserve snapshot is useful information; it is not a guarantee against future security failures.
