Beating AI News Flash: GEO startup Azoma has completed a $11.2 million Series A funding round, led by Puma Growth Partners. Its clients include L'Oréal, Unilever, Mars, and Reckitt. In the past, brands spent money on SEO to compete for search result rankings. Now, consumers directly ask AI "which shampoo is worth buying," and brands must strive to get into AI's recommendation lists. Azoma simulates questions from different consumers, tracks how often brands are recommended, their competitors, and citation sources, then optimizes product detail pages, official websites, YouTube, Reddit, and other content accordingly.Azoma analyzed 38 million AI citations and found that 51.9% of Gemini's citations come from media content, while Google AI Overviews has only 7.6%. This means different AI platforms require different GEO strategies. The company says revenue has grown nearly 10x over the past year, and the team has expanded from 12 to 40 people. The new funding will be used to cover more AI shopping agents and track whether recommendation exposure can truly convert into sales.
