I spent some time looking into Kite, and what caught my attention wasn’t just AI agents making payments. It was how Kite is trying to keep those payments under control.

With Kite Passport, features like spending budgets, transaction limits, and time-based controls give AI agents a more structured way to handle real financial activity without unlimited access to funds.

But there’s another side to this that I think matters even more.

Making payments possible is one thing. Creating real demand is another.

A successful transaction shows that the infrastructure works, but it doesn’t guarantee users will keep coming back or that developers can build sustainable businesses around it.

That’s why I’m looking beyond the technology. I want to see repeat usage, independent service providers, and genuine activity that continues without incentives.

If AI agents are going to become real economic participants, Kite needs to prove more than its ability to process payments.
