The price of gold has fallen in the country's market for three consecutive times. The latest announcement by the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) on Tuesday (September 29) was to reduce the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per baht. According to the new price, the price of 22-carat gold jewellery, including VAT, has been fixed at Tk 2,28,556 per baht.
Earlier, on Monday (September 28), the price of 22-carat gold per baht was reduced by Tk 2,158 and on September 26 by Tk 1,691. As a result, the price of 22-carat gold per baht has decreased by a total of Tk 6,065 in three phases.
The price of 21 carat gold per bhori has been reduced by Tk 2,099 at the new rate.
The price of 18 carat gold per baht has been reduced by 1,808 taka; the new price is 1,87,440 taka. And the price of traditional gold per baht has been reduced by 1,108 taka to 1,53,148 taka.
Meanwhile, along with gold, the price of silver has also been reduced. At the new rate, the price of a 22-carat bhori of silver has been fixed at 4,316 taka, 21-carat bhori at 4,141 taka, 18-carat bhori at 3,558 taka, and the price of a 2683 taka per bhori of traditional silver.
Bajus said that the newly fixed rates will remain in effect in all jewelry establishments in the country until further notice. However, wages will be applied differently depending on the jewelry design.
