Over the past two years, a significant divergence has been observed in the performance of Bitcoin compared to other crypto assets. Citing a new report from Glassnode and Bybit, Decrypt reported that while Bitcoin's price surged during this period, most mid-cap altcoins experienced steep declines.

Bitcoin rose by 28%: Over the last two years, Bitcoin gained roughly 28%. In contrast, the median mid-cap altcoin fell by approximately 74%, showing that mid-sized altcoins lagged significantly behind Bitcoin.

Ethereum remained mostly stagnant: Ethereum traded largely sideways during the same timeframe. As a result, the recent crypto cycle's price gains were primarily centered around Bitcoin.

Shift in the traditional 'Altseason' pattern: Typically, after a Bitcoin rally, investors rotate capital into Ethereum and smaller altcoins. According to the report's analysis, this capital rotation was noticeably weaker over the past two years.

Higher leverage in smaller coins: The report noted that Bitcoin's futures open interest accounts for about 2% of its market cap. On the other hand, highly speculative assets like PEPE saw this ratio reach nearly 24%, indicating that leverage heavily accumulated in smaller, riskier coins.

Bitcoin crossed $80,000 again: Following a relatively dovish outlook from the Federal Reserve, Bitcoin rose back above $80,000. This sparked a broader rally, boosting the total crypto market capitalization by about 4.6% in a single day to reach $2.85 trillion.

Stronger demand for Bitcoin ETFs: Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a cumulative net inflow of nearly $55.2 billion, compared to around $13.1 billion for Ethereum ETFs. This highlights a significantly higher flow of institutional capital toward Bitcoin.

Recent rebound in Altcoins: During the latest Bitcoin rally, Solana gained nearly 10%, while assets like NEAR and Uniswap saw even larger gains. This indicates that Bitcoin's momentum is, in some cases, spreading back into the broader crypto market.

In summary: Data from the past two years shows that Bitcoin performed much stronger than the majority of the crypto market. However, with several altcoins rapidly surging in recent rallies, key questions remain on whether this trend will shift moving forward.
