🚨 THE FED IS “INVESTING” $15.6 BILLION? NOT QUITE.

Crypto influencers are already running with headlines suggesting the Federal Reserve is injecting $15.6B of fresh money into the economy.

The reality is less dramatic.

The New York Fed is buying about $15.6B in Treasury bills between mid September and mid October, but these are largely reinvestments of principal from securities already held by the Fed.

That means the Fed is replacing maturing assets rather than launching a new quantitative easing program.

Yes, the purchases add reserves to the banking system and can support liquidity, but this is fundamentally a routine balance sheet operation, not the kind of massive stimulus we saw in 2020–2022.

For Bitcoin and crypto, liquidity still matters.

But investors should watch the actual changes in Fed policy, reserves, balance sheet size and financial conditions rather than automatically treating every Fed purchase as a new bull market signal.
