Self-custody right now? It's a mess honestly.

Look - we all preach "not your keys not your coins" but let's be real. 99% of people have no idea what they're doing. They're one phishing link away from losing everything.

The UX is still garbage. Hardware wallets? My mom would throw it out the window. Seed phrases? People write them on sticky notes or screenshot them. It's 2025 and we're still asking normies to become their own bank with zero training.

Meanwhile exchanges keep getting hacked or pulling FTX-style nonsense. So what's the answer? We're stuck between "trust a centralized platform" or "become a security expert overnight."

The industry needs to figure this out. Multi-sig is better but still clunky. Social recovery is promising but not mainstream. Until self-custody feels as easy as Venmo, most people will keep their crypto on Coinbase and pray.

Not saying self-custody is wrong - it's the ideal. But we're asking people to do something incredibly risky without giving them proper tools. That's the current state. Broken but necessary.
