The largest miner in the USA will raise up to $1 billion for Bitcoin purchases
The largest public mining company MARA Holdings (formerly Marathon Digital) announced plans to issue convertible bonds worth $850 million with the option of an additional issuance of $150 million. The zero-coupon bonds, maturing in 2032, will be placed among qualified investors.
The company intends to allocate part of the raised funds for the repurchase of a previous bond issue worth $50 million, with the remainder directed towards Bitcoin purchases, covering option costs, and general corporate purposes.
As of the end of June, MARA's total cryptocurrency reserves increased to 49,940 BTC — both mined and purchased separately. Of these, 15,534 BTC are pledged or loaned out. The company is the second-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin after Michael Saylor's Strategy.
At the end of June, the company reported mining 713 Bitcoins, which is 25% less than the previous month.
