Millions of Dollars Hack on Altcoin: Prices Drop Due to the Theft!
The Force Bridge, a cross-chain bridge of Nervos Network (CKB), was hit by a hacker attack resulting in the theft of approximately 3 million dollars worth of crypto assets.
Cryptocurrency markets started the day with a new hacker attack. The security analysis platform Cyvers Alerts announced that the cross-chain bridge named Force Bridge, developed by Nervos Network, was attacked while providing asset transfers between different blockchain networks. According to initial findings, a total of approximately 3 million dollars worth of assets was stolen in the attack.
Among the stolen assets are 257,800 USDT, 539 ETH (1.35 million dollars), 898,300 USDC, 60,400 DAI, and approximately 0.79 Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC). The hackers immediately converted the stolen assets to Ethereum (ETH) and then transferred them to the popular cryptocurrency mixer platform Tornado Cash to cover their tracks.
Singapore-based Magickbase announced that it temporarily halted the Force Bridge services after the incident and that a large-scale investigation had been launched. The platform was previously planned to be completely shut down in November 2025 due to a lack of users and high costs. This situation made the timing of the attack even more noteworthy.
The recent increase in hacker attacks on DeFi bridges has led to a renewed questioning of the security vulnerabilities of such protocols. In the attacks on Ronin Bridge and Wormhole that occurred in 2022, losses of 600 million dollars and 323 million dollars were experienced, respectively.
After the attack, the price of Nervos Network (CKB) sharply dropped, starting the day with a 12% loss and is currently trading at 0.004088 dollars.
