In Russia, a law has come into effect that limits the maximum amount of transfers between individuals (drops or droppers) to 100,000 rubles per month, who have been included in the Central Bank of Russia's database of fraudulent operations.
If a person ends up on this list, banks must impose a transfer limit for them. When such a client wants to make a transfer of more than 100,000 rubles, they will need to visit a bank branch with an identification document. There is also the possibility of suspending the use of the card and online banking.
Experts told "RBC-Crypto" how the new law will affect cryptocurrency operations of Russians and how events may develop further.
"Choose the lesser of two evils"
The Central Bank's database "On cases and attempts to carry out money transfers without the voluntary consent of the client" is regularly updated, and this has already affected the entire so-called Russian crypto exchange, said Andrey Tugarin, founder of the law firm GMT Legal.
He explained that data enters this database from both banks and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The consequence of being included in the Central Bank's database is the blocking of payment card usage and online banking.
