In today's rapidly advancing technology landscape, the field of artificial intelligence has become the focus of global attention. Chinese companies are gradually emerging in this arena, with the AI chatbot DeepSeek creating a stir globally upon its launch. However, with its popularity, the U.S. government's hostility has also become increasingly evident, recently resorting to legal means to suppress it.
The new U.S. bill targets DeepSeek, classifying it as a crime!!
According to Gelonghui, the U.S. Congress recently proposed the (2025 U.S.-China AI Decoupling Act), which prohibits Americans from assisting China in advancing AI and bans Americans from downloading or using DeepSeek, otherwise they will be classified as criminals, facing up to 20 years of imprisonment and fines of up to $1 million.
The bill states that if individuals or companies in the U.S. cooperate with Chinese universities, colleges, or laboratories on AI-related matters, they may be violating the law. Violating companies could face fines of up to $100 million. Additionally, non-U.S. citizens involved in technology transfer may face deportation.
This bill was proposed by Republican Senator Josh Hawley, who previously served as the Attorney General of Missouri and participated in investigations into allegations of election interference by major tech companies, including investigations into Google and Facebook.

DeepSeek's success has caused anxiety in the U.S.!
DeepSeek is a next-generation AI chatbot developed by a Chinese AI company, similar to the U.S. ChatGPT, with natural language processing capabilities, able to answer questions and generate creative content. It has quickly risen to prominence, topping the App Store and Google Play rankings, attracting global users' attention in just a few months, and has gained favor from U.S. cloud service giants like Microsoft, Amazon, and NVIDIA, which have all launched related services.

DeepSeek's success has intensified pressure on the United States. The U.S. has always considered itself the leader in global technological innovation, but with China's breakthroughs in AI technology, such as natural language processing and machine learning, its 'technological hegemonic status' is under threat. Microsoft and OpenAI jointly accused DeepSeek of 'stealing' ChatGPT data, and the U.S. network has also launched malicious attacks against it. Various signs indicate that America's anxiety has transformed into concrete actions, attempting to respond to challenges through restrictions and bans.
The new U.S. bill faces opposition from the majority!!!
The bill has sparked widespread attention, with many voices expressing opposition. Most critics believe that the legislators' motives are not purely out of national security or technological competition considerations, but rather aimed at protecting the U.S. market. Therefore, the bill may be more about resisting China's technological development than solving real security issues. Additionally, the harsh penalties proposed by the bill, especially the potential for up to 20 years of imprisonment, are considered overly aggressive and may even face risks of violating U.S. free market principles.

Currently, the bill is still in the proposal stage and has not yet been officially implemented. However, regardless of its final outcome, it cannot change the pace of China's technological development. Chinese AI companies will continue to grow amid challenges, contributing more Chinese wisdom and strength to the global AI industry.
