According to official news, THORChain V3 has been released, introducing the following new features: - Upgraded to Cosmos SDK v0.50 This update keeps THORChain aligned with the latest developments in the Cosmos ecosystem. The addition of smart contract functionality (including support for the CosmWasm module) enables developers to deploy smart contracts directly on THORChain. This allows for innovation within smart contracts while isolating risks. This shift also paves the way for compatibility with Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, allowing THORChain to monitor chains that support IBC from Bifrost, thereby reducing the cost of additions. - Switching from Tendermint to CometBFT As part of the Cosmos SDK v0.50 update, THORChain has transitioned its consensus layer from Tendermint to CometBFT. This upgrade enhances the consensus mechanism with better performance, security, and scalability. - Cosmos ecosystem compatibility The addition of the Cosmos default MsgSend feature ensures that THORChain can integrate more easily with the broader Cosmos ecosystem. - Rujira application layer The Rujira application layer is a key feature of THORChain v3, created by the merger of DeFi projects (Kujira, Levana, Fuzion, Unstake, and Wink) into the Rujira Alliance. This collaboration unifies decentralized DeFi tools into a seamless experience, enabling developers to build DApps directly on THORChain's liquidity pools. The Rujira application layer will share 50% of its generated fees with THORChain, supplementing THORChain's total revenue. Additionally, as the Rujira layer will utilize the base layer pool, it will increase the exchange volume of THORChain's base pool.
