Can Ethereum still be called decentralized?
Current data is thought-provoking: over half of the ETH is held in 104 whale wallets. These addresses hold at least 100,000 Ethereum, accounting for 57.35% of all existing ETH. Against the backdrop of Ethereum's market value of approximately $333.1 billion, this phenomenon of centralization cannot be ignored.

Meanwhile, the supply of wallets holding 10 to 100,000 ETH has dropped to a historic low of only 33.46%; while the supply of wallets holding less than 100 ETH has fallen to 9.19%, reaching a new low in nearly four years. The impact of this highly concentrated token distribution on ETH prices is difficult to predict. If these whales join forces to speculate, ETH prices could skyrocket; but if the market loses confidence in Ethereum, who will take on these chips?

Furthermore, early large holders of Ethereum seem to have never cared about the interests of retail investors. Cardano ($ADA) is a typical example. Although its technical performance is poor, its user base is weak, and its ecosystem projects are almost nonexistent, it has remained in the top ten by market value for years. The reason lies in the fact that $ADA founder Charles Hoskinson was one of Ethereum's early major players.

Recently, although Ethereum's price performance has been strong, breaking through the psychological barrier of $4,000, it still has not reached a historical high. Its increase is only comparable to the price level at the beginning of the year during the Cancun upgrade. After the wave of attention triggered by the Cancun upgrade, although the Ethereum spot ETF was successfully issued, it faced significant impact from Solana's ($SOL) meme offensive.

In December, with the favorable news from the new crypto policy, Ethereum once again broke through $4,000, and on the 30th, its increase surpassed its competitor $SOL, even exceeding Bitcoin ($BTC). The specific data is as follows:

ETH 30-day increase: +26.96%
BTC 30-day increase: +17.49%
SOL 30-day increase: +1.61%

Although Ethereum has performed strongly recently, its future trend is still full of variables. If the issues of centralization and potential market manipulation risks cannot be resolved, Ethereum's decentralized characteristics will be further questioned, and it may even affect its status in the crypto market.
