$4B Iran Crypto Network Exposed: Dubai Exchange Shelbit Shut Down Reuters today revealed that Shelbit, an unlicensed Dubai crypto desk, moved $4 billion+ since May 2024 for an Iranian gambling network (2,000+ sites), Iran's central bank, and sanctioned exchange Nobitex. $676M reached Binance with ~$540M flowing after Dubai's regulator had already fined Shelbit. VARA issued a cease-and-desist + fines on 24 July 2026 for money laundering, terrorism financing and KYC failures. Reuters could not confirm IRGC control. Binance says Shelbit never held an account and that it froze and reported linked users. No convictions yet. Dubai is enforcing hard. "Regulated country" ≠ "regulated platform." However, traders should remain objective.
