🔍 Elliptic, a blockchain analytics platform, discovered about $7 billion in illicit cryptocurrency laundered through decentralized exchanges (DEXs), chain bridges, and currency exchange services. The famous North Korean hacker group Lazarus also participated in these activities.

📈 The second State of Cross-Chain Crime report shows that prohibited actors and terrorists now own more than 80 digital assets on more than 26 blockchains.

💰 In its first report, Elliptic predicted that the amount of money laundered through DEXs, bridges, and exchange services would increase to $6.5 billion by the end of 2023 and $10.5 billion by 2025. However, the current number has exceeded predictions, reaching to $7 billion.

👥 The Lazarus Group is the largest source of all illicit funds laundered through chain bridges and the third largest for all cross-chain crime, responsible for $900 million in total. Criminals now use more sophisticated cross-chain methods such as derivatives trading and limit orders to conceal their money laundering activities.

🚨 As the amount of cryptocurrency laundered through DEXs, chain bridges, and exchange services continues to increase, bad actors have increasingly stolen tokens through hacking, mining, and phishing.
