【This week’s US stock market outlook|8.10-8.16】

Last week’s US stocks rebounded strongly: the S&P 500 gained 3.58% for the week and hit a new closing high, the Nasdaq rose 5.19%, and the Dow increased 2.96%. Nonfarm payrolls in July fell by 23,000 and the unemployment rate was 4.1%, leading the market to cut back expectations and shift downward its rate-hike bets for September.

This week’s macro focus: 8.12 CPI, 8.13 PPI, and 8.14 retail sales.

Earnings reports to watch:
8.10: RKLB, ASTS, HIMS
8.11: SMCI, CRWV
8.12: NBIS, CSCO
8.13: AMAT

In addition, 8.11 will release existing home sales; 8.13 will have Hammack and Barkin speeches; and 8.14 will publish the initial reading of the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index.

External risks remain focused on the Strait of Hormuz and oil prices; Intel announced plans to issue $15 billion of common stock.
