The cryptocurrency startup Casa, based in New York, has launched new protocols to provide a security service aimed at people interested in addressing the issue of Bitcoin (BTC) inheritance, to find a solution to the question:
“Who will inherit your Bitcoin if you die?”
Casa proposes solutions to the issue of Bitcoin inheritance, highlighting three common positions currently adopted by users:
They don't think about the problem at all.
They are inclined to entrust their sensitive data to family or close friends.
They employ third-party custodians to manage the process.
The three cases described above suffer from potential risks: on the one hand, the last two cases present risks in terms of security, due to the risk of theft and trust, while the first leaves open the possibility that Bitcoin is insurmountable.
Based on the above, the new solution focuses on offering a technical option and services to the inheritance, in accordance with the current legal system and wealth management in the United States.
The firm, on the technical front, has developed a specialized protocol with multisig technology, which incorporates an optional 6th key to the existing programming of "3 of 5 keys" of Casa. This is not all, in addition, the service offers lawyers specialized in inheritance law, to serve as support for continuous education processes aimed at the owners and heirs about the security and custody options they may have.
