At 6:00 PM Moscow time, the Supreme Court began hearings on the legality of Donald Trump's tariffs against most countries.
Justices (both conservative and liberal) expressed skepticism – tariffs are effectively taxes, and Trump may have overstepped his authority.
The Treasury Department will have to return $750,000,000,000 (❗️) if the court finds the tariffs illegal.
If the tariffs remain in place, they will generate $3,000,000,000,000 in revenue for the US economy by 2035 (according to CNBC estimates).
