Pearl's $PEARL token climbed about 16.7% over the past 24 hours to $1.86, the largest gain among the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market value. Trading volume reached $14.8 million. The move extends a 30-day advance to 32% and puts the token's market capitalisation near $692 million.

Coinbase Roadmap and NEAR Intents Add Catalysts

Two recent developments have kept attention on the token. TokenPost reported that Coinbase added Axis Labs (AXIS), Pearl (PEARL) and Stable (STABLE) to its asset-listing roadmap, with trading subject to market-making support and technical readiness. A roadmap entry does not start trading, and Coinbase has set no launch date for any of the three assets. Coverage differs slightly on timing: Yahoo Finance dates the addition to October 19.

This week, NEAR Protocol also added the token to NEAR Intents (@near_intents) and the near.com app. According to Cryptonews, swaps are confidential by default, and wallets and apps that use the NEAR Intents 1Click API can now offer $PEARL swaps. KuCoin News said the integration supports cross-chain swaps across more than 35 blockchains.

How Pearl's Layer 1 Works

Pearl runs its own layer 1 blockchain, built by Pearl Research Labs and operated through @prlnet. Its mining is designed to double as AI computing work. Hashrate Index describes it as a proof-of-useful-work network in which miners run large-scale matrix multiplication on Nvidia GPUs instead of hashing, with mainnet launching on April 27, 2026.

The model has faced scrutiny. CoinMarketCap's project summary notes ongoing debate over whether the network's mining actually serves useful AI work, citing a June 2026 study that found the dominant mining software had no identifiable inference code. Cryptonews also said how much of the mining work serves paying AI users remains an open question.

For now, the price move reflects trading momentum around exchange access and cross-chain availability rather than confirmed demand for AI workloads. Whether Coinbase proceeds to a full listing remains to be seen.
