Kite: The Next Challenge for AI Agents Is Spending Smarter

I find KITE Agent Passport interesting because AI Agents need more than reasoning skills. To perform real tasks, they must interact with external services and execute transactions within defined permissions.

But there’s another challenge: being allowed to spend money doesn’t mean spending it wisely.

Imagine an agent searching for market data. It pays for multiple APIs, tests different sources, yet finds nothing better. Every transaction may be valid, but was the money well spent?

A spending limit alone cannot solve this. An agent can follow every rule and still waste its budget.

I see three areas worth exploring: budgets tied to task objectives, tracking whether spending improves results, and identifying which agents create value when working together.

These are potential development directions, not confirmed shortcomings of Kite. Agent Passport addresses permissions, but the next question is how to measure whether an agent is worth its cost.

What should Kite prioritize next: smarter budget controls, agent performance tracking, or cost management across multiple agents?
