Jack Dorsey's payments company Block has introduced Dessa, a voice AI model whose humanlike company demonstrations drew praise and warnings about harder-to-detect phone scams. Block says Dessa learns entirely from human speech and can listen and speak simultaneously. The model remains a research preview, with early access offered to a small group of AI safety researchers. Block has not disclosed the model's size, benchmark results or a public release date. The audio demonstrations have not been independently tested.
