According to Jin10, Iranian security forces clashed with a group of militants in Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, in southeastern Iran, on October 13 local time. The militants had taken an engineer hostage and tried to move him abroad before exchanging fire with Iranian security forces. One security force member was killed in the operation, five militants were killed, and the engineer was rescued.
