๐Ÿšจ Could Quantum Computing Become a Threat to Bitcoin in the Future?

Around 4.33 million $BTC are held in reused Bitcoin addresses, accounting for roughly 21.5% of Bitcoinโ€™s circulating supply, according to Glassnode data reported on October 8.

The main concern is what happens when quantum computing becomes more advanced. Reusing a Bitcoin address can expose its public key on the blockchain, potentially creating a security risk if future quantum computers become powerful enough to break todayโ€™s cryptography.

The bigger picture is even more interesting. Around 6.26 million $BTC, or approximately 31.2% of the total supply, have exposed public keys, including coins linked to older address types.

โš ๏ธ This doesnโ€™t mean Bitcoin is in danger today. Current quantum computers cannot break Bitcoinโ€™s security at this scale.

Still, this is something the crypto community cannot ignore. Preparing for future threats now could help protect Bitcoin and its holders in the long run.
