Trump's envoys, Witkoff and Kushner, passed notes back and forth with Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi through Qatari mediators at the UN General Assembly, the first contact since the ceasefire fell apart in July.
Trump said Steve and Jared had "a very productive meeting" and that there's "a lot of momentum for them to make a deal."
Tehran's demands haven't budged at all though. It still wants the war ended on all fronts and a stop to what it calls U.S. "acts of aggression."
There's pushback at home too, with Iranian hardliners unhappy about ANY contact with the Americans, while the security council reportedly ordered the delegation to avoid meeting them face to face.
There's no deal yet, but oil still liked what it saw, with Brent holding ~$100 a barrel, close to a 2-week low.
It's something, at least...
