VITALIK: ZK AND ENCRYPTION COULD EXPAND ETHEREUM’S LIMITS
Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum is evolving from a public ledger into a secure computing network built on cryptography. He highlighted zero-knowledge proofs, fully homomorphic encryption and parallel block building as technologies that could improve both privacy and scalability.
My take: this changes how Ethereum can be positioned. ZK proofs can verify computation without exposing the underlying inputs, while also reducing how much work every node needs to perform. The Ethereum Foundation’s privacy roadmap now includes private proving, while zkEVM research aims to make block execution cheaper to verify. FHE goes further by allowing computation on encrypted data without decrypting it.
If these technologies move from research into reliable deployment, ETH could benefit on two fronts: more transactions at lower cost and more applications that require private data. But I would not treat this as a short-term price catalyst. I’ll watch EIPs, zkEVM progress and practical FHE integration before assessing the impact on network demand.
Which will differentiate Ethereum more over the next few years: privacy or scalability? If this logic makes sense, drop a follow for more market breakdowns.
