According to Jin10, the Bank of Korea's policy decision this week may not be finalized until the last minute, with slightly more than half of economists expecting a second consecutive rate hike as growth and underlying inflation remain strong. Among 22 economists surveyed, 14 forecast that the central bank will raise its benchmark rate by 0.25 percentage point to 3% on Thursday, while eight expect no change. The Bank of Korea will also release updated forecasts, which are expected to support further monetary tightening. Its 2026 growth forecast is expected to be raised sharply from 2.6% in May, and its inflation forecast may also be lifted from the 2.7% estimate in May.
