Bitget Greater China Head Xie Jiayin recently shared an update on the exchange’s security incident during a livestream, highlighting the steps taken to strengthen platform security and risk management.
According to reports, Bitget quickly isolated the affected systems, revoked internal access credentials, enhanced permission controls for sensitive operations, and introduced multi-person approval requirements for critical actions. The exchange also worked with third-party security firms by sharing vulnerability details to support investigation and remediation efforts. Related functions were suspended until all security fixes were fully implemented.
To further improve user protection, Bitget announced stricter withdrawal verification procedures, with every withdrawal now subject to independent security checks.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen explained that BTC withdrawals resumed first because the Bitcoin withdrawal system was not impacted by the attack and completed security verification ahead of other assets. ETH and USDT withdrawals were restored later as verification processes progressed and due to stronger user demand.
