$18B Crypto Options Expiry Nears
Around $18B worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum options are scheduled to expire this Friday, making it one of the largest options expiries of 2026.
Bitcoin accounts for the majority of the positioning, with roughly $16B in BTC options and around $2B in ETH options coming off the board.
A large amount of positioning expiring at once can create significant changes in hedging flows, liquidity and short-term volatility, especially with Bitcoin currently trading around the $85K–$87K region.
BTC options positioning is heavily concentrated around higher strikes, while traders are also watching ETH positioning across major price levels.
The expiry itself does not guarantee a breakout or a sell-off. The bigger factor will be how traders and market makers adjust their positions before and after settlement.
With billions in contracts resetting simultaneously, volatility could become a major theme heading into Friday.$BTC $ETH
