Micron has unveiled the world's first 512GB DDR5 RDIMM memory module for servers, with speeds up to 9200 MT/s. AMD and Intel are validating it for future platforms. The module achieves its capacity by vertically stacking DRAM dies using through-silicon vias, and a server equipped with 24 modules can reach 12 TB of memory. The single 512GB module is rated at 16W, while four 128GB modules together consume 44.2W, a reduction of more than 60%. Micron says that in Spark SVM memory-intensive analytics scenarios, performance improves by up to 1.4 times compared to 256GB DDR5. This product follows the 256GB DDR5 RDIMM that Micron sampled earlier this year (also up to 9200 MT/s, using 1-gamma DRAM and 3D stacking), with mass production planned for 2027; pricing has not yet been announced.
