This project is developing new tech solutions for the protection of sensitive information. Its main products are Covenants and its first drop called DUSK. 🌙

💡 In my opinion: Convenience attracts customers, whereas trust makes them use a particular service longer. The ability to benefit from using convenient AI and web3 services, revealing as little personal information as possible, might become a breakthrough point.

It should be noted that any privacy tech should also be practical and safe enough. Users won’t be able to protect their personal information and be comfortable in the digital world at the same time. 🤝

Nillion’s Covenants introduce an interesting trust question: what establishes that a private instruction should be released?

Nillion describes its architecture this way: a Covenant seals a payload to a condition. Its encrypted shares are distributed among a committee of nodes, so no single operator can reconstruct the original payload alone. When the condition is met, nodes publish their shares, allowing the payload to be reconstructed and verified on Ethereum before the downstream action occurs.

The key distinction is between the documented mechanism—sealing an instruction to a condition—and the broader security guarantees, which depend on the protocol's implementation and assumptions.

Consider a conditional trade tied to a price feed. If that feed is delayed or inaccurate, keeping the instruction encrypted does not make the triggering data reliable. Confidentiality protects the strategy from premature exposure; it does not, by itself, guarantee that the condition is evaluated correctly. That is why the trust assumptions behind triggering and revealing matter as much as the privacy mechanism.

The deeper question is what the system must trust. A correct condition, a legitimate reveal, and confidentiality are separate requirements. Protecting the payload does not automatically prove that the trigger was evaluated correctly or that the reveal followed the intended rules. Those guarantees depend on the protocol's verification design and its assumptions.

For condition-gated execution to become practical, which deserves the most scrutiny: the reliability of the trigger, the integrity of the reveal, or the assumptions the protocol relies on to protect both?
