it was 2:12 AM when Priya's phone buzzed. One new message.
The sender's name: "Mom."
Except her mom had passed away three years ago.
Hands shaking, she opened it.
"Sweetie, open the door. It's really cold outside."
Her heart started pounding. She was home alone. She crept to the window and peeked out.
Nothing. No one there.
She let out a breath. Probably just some glitch, a wrong number, whatever.
Then the phone buzzed again.
"I'm already inside, sweetie. Turn around and look."
She turned around slowly.
Her phone was sitting on the table. Switched off. It had been dead for hours.
