Fungible means interchangeable. One dirham note is as good as any other; you do not care which one you get. The property is so basic to money that we rarely notice it.
On a public blockchain every coin has a visible history, which puts fungibility under pressure. Coins that passed through an address linked to a hack can be frozen by an issuer or refused by a platform, even when the person holding them now did nothing wrong. In practice: know where the funds you receive came from, and keep records of your own transfers. A clean history is part of what keeps your coins spendable.
